Corporate Responsibility

CWC does not consider corporate responsibility as a mere philanthropic gesture or add-on. It is part of our core business.

The chosen charity for Africa Energy Week is the Drifting Angels Orphanage in Ghana. In 2009 we will be paying for a water distribution system to be built in the orphanage village.

Africa Energy Week will help to make this happen.

CWC is also a member of the Nigerian Coalition against AIDS (NIBUCAA). We share NIBUCAA’s
belief that the private sector should respond to the growing challenges of HIV/AIDS ensuring equal rights and opportunities for employees infected or affected by the virus.

This is a very important initiative and one we are proud to support given our long history of working in Africa and our extensive local contacts we are keenly aware of the impact HIV and AIDS has.
CWC recognises the important issues faces in the countries we operate in an dour role in society, hence our strong interest in supporting NIBUCAA’s efforts.

NIBUCAA’s operational strategies are to:

  • Support the development of actionable activities around HIV & AIDS, by individual member companies through technical advice and advocacy
  • Increase the range and quality of business sector involvement in HIV/AIDS and by extension, tuberculosis and malaria
  • Expand membership, particularly to the small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Facilitate information-sharing on good practice guidelines, policies and access to training sessions
  • Offer direct service provision to communities where the business operate
  • Provision and dissemination of current research information on the “three big diseases” - ATM
